All Capitol Area Council Posts are encouraged to participate in ScoutJam 2010 and lead youth in service and skills training. Show off your skills and share what you do in the Explorer program. It is far removed from what many of our adults experienced in their youth. ScoutJam 2010 is about showcasing all facets of Scouting, from its traditional roots in the outdoors to career and special interest pursuits.
Exploring is a worksite-based program. It is part of Learning for Life's career education program for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) through 20 years old. The Capitol Area Council has Posts centered on EMS, Fire, Police, Sheriff's Dept., and Medical careers. Exploring programs are based on five areas of emphasis: career opportunities, life skills, citizenship, character education, and leadership experience.
Career Opportunities
- Develop potential contacts that may broaden employment options
- Boost self-confidence and experience success at school and work
Life Skills
- Develop physical and mental fitness
- Experience positive social interaction
To learn more about this dynamic program see the BSA's Learning for Life site Exploring.
