Safe Kids at ScoutJam
Safe Kids Austin is bringing three showcase programs to ScoutJam and is a sponsor of the event.

Safe Kids Buckle Up and Chevrolet have teamed up with the Boy Scouts of America to teach Cub Scouts and their parents and caregivers about safety in and around vehicles.
These hands-on educational activities are conducted by Safe Kids Coalitions and held at Chevrolet dealerships designed to educate families with older children — ages 7 to 10 — about being safe inside and outside of moving and parked vehicles. After the Scouts successfully complete all of the educational stations, they are presented with their Automotive Safety Patch.
Registration
Scouts and their families will start at the registration table to fill out paperwork and get an explanation of the program components. Special note: While siblings and parents are encouraged to participate, only Cub Scouts will receive a patch upon completion of the stations. Other types of Scouts and siblings of Scouts are not eligible to receive the patch. An adult will be required to be present for any Cub Scout when signing in. An adult may represent more than one child. The sign in sheet will have space for the adult name next to each child’s name.

All About Safe Kids Austin
Safe Kids Austin Vision
The vision of Safe Kids Austin is to create safer communities in the Austin Metropolitan Area and surrounding counties.
Who We Are
Safe Kids Austin, led by Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, is a member of Safe Kids Worldwide, the nation’s first non-profit organization dedicated solely to the prevention of accidental childhood injury. Safe Kids Worldwide is made up of more than 600 state and local Safe Kids coalitions in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
Safe Kids Austin consists of more than 30 community, civic and state organizations. The Coalitions’ initiatives include classroom-based programs and educational events for families. The Coalition focuses on promoting safety in vehicles, around water and while walking and biking.
What We Do
Safe Kids Austin promotes changes in attitudes, behaviors, laws and the environment to prevent accidental injury to children. In the United States, Safe Kids partnerships have contributed to a 45 percent reduction in the child fatality rate from accidental injury – saving an estimated 38,000 children’s lives. Locally, this is done through community partnerships, advocacy, public awareness and distribution of, and education on the proper uses of, safety equipment.
