Welcome to ScoutJam 2010! PDF print email

ScoutJam 2010 promises to bring you one of the biggest, most fun and memorable events in the history of Scouting

in the Capitol Area Council. We will have plenty to see and do, learn and be amazed by, at every level of Scouting – Cubs, Boy Scouts, Venture Crews, Ships and Explorer Posts and their families. It’s all happening at the Travis County EXPO Center October 8-10, 2010.

From camping to simulating flight, to trying your hand at electric guitar, to military and commemorative warbird flyovers, to climbing on a rock wall, fishing, archery, testing your skills at ring toss, bottle rocket launching, space derbies and much more. We will have a major Native American village sponsored by our own Order of the Arrow Tonkawa Lodge. Dozens of outside groups will put on engaging special exhibits for all ages. There will be re-enactors showing you historical perspective on the early years before Scouting. Hundreds of our own Packs, Troops, Crews and Ships will be providing interactive games, scout craft skills, and fun things to do in a midway style format throughout the day. Then in the evening Scouts and their families can enjoy a spectacular arena show with live band and Scouting memories on the big screen celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Scouting.

Don’t miss this once in a lifetime opportunity for you, your Scouts, and your family to really experience the closest many will ever have of seeing a National Jamboree style event, put on by our own council and all of its units, and supported by many great outside organizations.

Sign up your unit to participate and create a booth that will share in the fun and excitement that is ScoutJam 2010. Boy Scout troops, Venturing Crews, Ships and Posts are encouraged to camp for the weekend in their district sub-camp. Webelos II Scouts are invited to camp with area troops as well. This website has a host of helpful and informative sections to make it happen. We will bring you monthly updates with sneak previews of the events. Sign up for our monthly newsletter to stay connected to the excitement!

Yours in Scouting,
